A Church of England School

At St John’s we begin each day with our school community coming together for collective worship. It is a vital and valued part of the day that gets us started in the best way possible. We share messages from the teachings of Jesus, pray, praise, reflect and worship in a variety of ways. We are also very fortunate to have a lovely Chaplaincy Team who support us in this.

As well as a Chaplaincy Team, we have our own Worship Leaders. These children applied and were interviewed for their roles and have a vital job to do. They lead us in preparing the hall for worship, lead us in praise and prayer and participate in the planning and evaluation of our collective worship. They work very hard and enjoy their role.

Our Collective Worship at St John’s mostly mirrors the Liturgical Calendar (the Church of England calendar of the year). We are always left with a ‘take-away’ message – something that we can reflect on and implement in our lives at school and at home - and we think this helps us to be the best version of ourselves.
