Parent Engagement

We provide a fortnightly 1 hour group in the Family Room on a Friday at 14.00. This is for parents/carers who have children with a Special Educational Need, including children who are struggling emotionally, socially or with their mental health.

Here parents/carers can come and share their concerns and worries. They can gain support from Mrs Pellant our Family Liaison Officer. So far we have covered many areas of need Autism ADHD Self Harm Toileting Needs Routine Charts Independence Strategies Reward Charts Routine Charts

Advice leaflets and hand-outs are given at each session based on the ‘The Solihull Approach’. This group also provides a time and space for parents/carers to come together to share their own tips and strategies and enable them to relax with a hot drink and cookies, helping to make their lives a little less stressful. If you feel that you would like to join this group to gain support or to offer others advice then please come along and join us. Many heads are better than one!

All parents of St Johns are invited to be part of this group. For the past three years this group have been very proactive in their fundraising ideas and have raised funds for a Buddy Bench, Bouncy Castle and now have raised enough funds to buy the Junior playground a Fun Activity Play Area. These donations have been achieved through Summer Fair’s, Fireworks events, Easter Parades, Table Top sales, Cake Stalls and in the summer 'Ice Lolly' Fridays.

All these activities are aimed at not only fundraising but to bring the school community and local community together.
