Year 4 had an exciting new experience on Monday, when they got to attend the Schools Day Out event at the Spitfire Ground. The children got the opportunity to watch the second day of the first-class cricket match between Kent and Gloucestershire (c’mon, Kent!), and to take part in a range of additional activities.
The children got to meet some of the Kent players and take their autographs. They also completed an assault course, and even got to sit in the cab of a bin lorry!
Tills said, “I loved completing the obstacle course. It was great racing against the other groups.”
“My favourite part was trading cards,” said Stacie. The children were gifted trading cards of cricket players when they arrived.
Danielius enjoyed watching Kent play. “They were catching the other team out.” Logan struggled to pick just one favourite activity, saying instead that he loved the whole day! Eden particularly liked “the fielding and the activities like rapid fire cricket.”
The whole day was an excellent occasion, with over 30 schools attending and year 4 did St John’s proud with their behaviour and enthusiasm. We can’t wait to go again next year!
