Family Liaison Officers

Veronica - Family Liaison Officer (FLO)

My main role is to provide support for our St John’s families who may be facing difficulties or may need support. Myself and Tam can provide this by liaising with KCC Commissioned services and other external agencies and giving you time and advice ourselves. All families face challenges at times. These can range from financial problems/housing support/emotional difficulties/separation/children’s behaviour/domestic abuse.

I also support children in school that need counselling support and also provide bereavement support for children and families.

Myself and Tam facilitate the Solihull Parenting Programme in school, which provides support for behaviour/development/anger issues and parenting skills. Do contact us if you would like to be part of the programme.

We work closely with both SEND staff and our Attendance team to enable families to overcome any difficulties that are impacting on children’s attendance.

I run a weekly Toddler Group on Fridays 8.30am-10am. This is a free group for children that will eventually attend our Nursery, which provides a great transition for them. Do contact the office if you would like to add your child’s name to the waiting list.

As Family Support workers we are here to support and not judge you. Please contact us for a chat or leave a message at the office and we will contact you.

We are based in the Family Support Room next to the Nursery and my working hours are Monday Tuesday Friday 8am – 4pm.

Tam - Family Liaison Officer (FLO)

Hello, my name is Tam, I am one of the Family Liaison Officers for parents, carers and families of children at the school. As a mum myself, I know only too well how precious your child is and that parents are often best placed to make the right choice for their child, but most of us would admit to times in our lives when we need a helping hand or a friendly ear.

I am available to offer practical help and support to parents and carers in matters concerning your child’s education, development and well-being. I work in partnership with you, the teachers and senior leadership team to help you support your child to learn and enjoy their school years, by providing information and guidance. I can meet you on a 1:1 basis in school or over the phone, providing information on a range of issues and practical help, as well as offering a friendly listening ear.

I also run the Solihull Parenting Course alongside Veronica, and run the Multi-Family Group with a child psychologist on Thursdays. I run the Parents' Creative Café on Thursday afternoons so please feel free to pop in for that and enjoy a hot drink.

I am available from 8am until 4pm Tuesday through to Thursday and can be contacted directly via the school office or catch me in the playground at drop off and collection times. Please feel free to contact me for a chat and coffee if you have any worries or concerns – no matter how small! I am hear to listen, empathise, offer support and care.
