Last week year 4 were asked to write a poem about a recipe for St John’s children whilst in Lockdown (based on Benjamin Zephaniah’s poem This is Britain).
Terry from Tigers produced the following piece of work and he has given us permission to share it with you all.
A Recipe for St John’s Children Take some Caterpillars, Butterflies, Honeybees and Hedgehogs. And let them settle with Squirrels, Pandas, Orangutans and Giraffes. Add in Koalas, Tigers and Lions, and overrun them with Foxes, Badgers, Zebras and Meerkats. Remove the school building but the school remains. Add in our school living and learning values, then stir vigorously. Mix some hot science, cool Mrs Miller, Miss Reynolds, Mrs Hodge’s funny nursery stories, Mrs Williamson, Mrs Taylor, Miss Ogle, Miss Pellant. Then take a blend of Mr Parkin, Mr Hasker and Mr Gold, Mrs Gillett, Mrs Baugh, Mr Baugh combine with some local church, All Saints, Emmanuel Church, the City Church and turn up the heat. Sprinkle some fresh R.E., combine Miss Collingwood, Miss Baker, Mrs Gravenor, Miss Seaman, Miss Coyne and Miss Ellis. Add Mrs Sanger and Mrs Carter with some French, Spanish and Art. Then add to the melting pot. Leave the ingredients to simmer. As they mix and blend, allow our school to flourish. Binding them together with our values Allow time to be cool. Add some unity, understanding, all different cultures, belief, sports, forest school, dance, charities and respect for the future, serve with anti-bullying, online safety and justice and enjoy. Note: All the ingredients are equally important. Treating one ingredient better than another will leave a bitter unpleasant taste. By Terry (4T)
