We learned the results of our recent Ofsted inspection this week and were very pleased to discover that St John’s is now officially rated as a ‘Good School’ with our early years provision being recognised as ‘Outstanding’. A copy of the report has been sent home to all parents and we hope that you share our pride in the school as we continue to work to provide the best possible outcomes and future for your children.
The inspectors looked at all areas of the school and talked to staff and pupils as well as gathering the views of parents.
Some of their key findings were as follows:
Since the last inspection, leaders have driven improvement relentlessly
Children make an excellent start in the Nursery and Reception years
Leaders have improved the quality of teaching, which is now good
Pupils’ behaviour is good
There has been improved attendance for all groups of pupils
The school provides effective support for disadvantaged pupils and those who have special educational needs
Pupils enjoy a wide curriculum that stimulates their interest, particularly through enrichment activities
Governors and staff share the ambition to provide the best possible learning and personal experiences for the pupils
Pupils who speak English as an additional language receive effective support
Pupils work hard and want to do well and are becoming confident readers
We are obviously all very pleased with this report and would like to thank parents for their positive comments and continued support.
