  2. Make Lunch

    Friday 14 February

    The Make Lunch team will be back at St John’s this half term!

    They will be offering a free hot meal for families who are eligible for free school meals, as well as running activities such as crafts, sports and board games.

  3. Award Winning Authors

    Friday 14 February

    We were joined by two members of the Rotary Club on Wednesday morning this week. They came into school to award prizes to children who had been successful in their story writing entries for the annual Rotary Club competition.

    The children were asked to write a 100 word Christmas story which they had to present in their own handwriting and with no spelling or punctuation support.

  4. World Book Day

    Friday 14 February

    This year’s World Book Day (WBD) is on Thursday 5th March.

    As usual we will be celebrating this event at St John’s and are asking everyone (children and staff) to dress up as their favourite book character on this day.   5. Fairy Tale butterflies

    Friday 14 February

    Butterfly Class have been enjoying reading traditional tales in their classroom.

    Last week they went ‘trip trapping’ over the bridge to the field just like the goats did in the story of The Billy Goats Gruff.

    Luckily they didn’t find a troll waiting for them but they did have a lot of fun looking around the field for pictures to find and writing words on their whiteboards.

  6. Gifted and Talented Art Workshop

    Friday 14 February

    We have recently hosted two gifted and talented arts workshops at St John’s.

    We welcomed children from Pilgrims Way, St Thomas’s, St Stephen’s and Blean schools to join children from St John’s for a special art session which gave children the chance to make their own stencils and screen print a T-shirt.

  7. Safer Internet Day

    Friday 7 February

    Our internet safety day was led by our team of e-safety ambassadors.

    The children performed a play to the rest of the school looking at how and why to be respectful across all electronic devices and platforms. They were also shown the importance of interacting well with each other whilst online.
